Frequently Asked Questions

What happens on my first lesson?

On your first lesson, you’ll be shown how to put your boots on, how to move around on your skis or board, and will start sliding down the slope. Whether you’re on a taster, private lesson or Ladies Night, the top priority is making sure you’re comfortable and having fun!

How long does it take to learn how to ski or snowboard?

People learn at different rates, but as a rough guide it takes about 10 hours of lessons for adults to get to recreational standard, longer for children.

What does recreational standard mean?

Recreational standard is when you can ski safely from the top of the main slope, you can control your speed using turns and can use the button tow. Once you reach this level, it is no longer a requirement that you get lessons and you can use the slope yourself.

Can I just turn up for recreational skiing or snowboarding?

No, all of our sessions must be booked in advance via the Book Now button.

What do I need to wear?

Dress for the weather. Your skin must be covered and we recommend gloves year-round. If it’s raining, bring waterproofs or stick a change of clothes in. Ski boots can be uncomfortable if your trousers get stuck inside, so trousers that are loose enough to roll up to your knees or leggings are best, along with a pair of long socks.

Do you provide equipment?

Yes, all of our prices include the hire of boots, skis or snowboard and a helmet. Our boots and helmets are sanitised after every use.

What is the minimum age?

The youngest we can take on skiing is 3 years old on private and tiny tot lessons and 7 years old on group lessons, including camps. For snowboarding, the youngest we can take is 7 years old on private lessons and 8 years old on group lessons.

Can I go on the same lesson with my children?

Yes, you can. If your children are all 7 and over, you can get group or private lessons together (8 for group snowboarding lessons). If your child is aged between 3 and 6,  you can still get a private lesson together to start, but the instructor might recommend separate lessons after your first.

I used to ski or snowboard but haven’t in a long time, what would you recommend?

If you’re not sure if you’re up to recreational standard, we recommend coming along for a private lesson so one of our instructors can assess you.

Can my friend/family member teach me to ski or snowboard?

Unfortunately not. Until you are at recreational standard, you can’t be on the slope unless you’re on a lesson with one of our instructors.

Do you sell gift cards?

Yes, we do! Click here to buy a gift card for any amount you like.

What if the weather is bad?

We run in all weathers, just wrap up warm and bring waterproofs!

Can I pay on the day?

All activities must be paid in advance.

When do I need to arrive?

For lessons, we recommend arriving 15 minutes early so you have time to get your boots on.

Is there a car park?

Yes, we have a car park with plenty of spaces adjacent to the facility.

Is it easy to get there by public transport?

Absolutely! The number 1 bus from Kilmarnock Bus Station will drop you at the bottom of the hill.
